{"id":673,"date":"2009-02-19T12:34:19","date_gmt":"2009-02-19T11:34:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.walkingrandomly.com\/?p=673"},"modified":"2009-02-19T12:34:19","modified_gmt":"2009-02-19T11:34:19","slug":"blogging-about-an-msc-in-computer-science","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/walkingrandomly.com\/?p=673","title":{"rendered":"Blogging about an MSc in computer science"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I don&#8217;t know what it is about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.manchester.ac.uk\/\">Manchester University<\/a> that turns its staff and students into bloggers but there seem to be more and more of us around these days.<\/p>\n<p>One I had a lot of time for was the (sadly now closed to public) blog, <a href=\"http:\/\/gooseania.blogspot.com\/\">Gooseania<\/a>,where a maths PhD student chronicled his experiences from his first day through to graduation.\u00a0 Having gone through a PhD myself I understood only too well what he was going through and, thanks to his blog, I experienced some of the highs and lows with him.<\/p>\n<p>Following on in this fine tradition is my friend Paul who has recently started a part-time MSc in Computer Science at Manchester.\u00a0 In his blog, <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.crossedstreams.com\/\">Crossed Streams<\/a>, he has started writing about his experiences of fitting a taught Masters degree around a full-time job along with other subjects such as Java programming, logic, Ubuntu fixes and the geek community in South Yorkshire.<\/p>\n<p>If this sounds like an interesting set of topics to you then pop over, say hi and tell him Mike sent you :)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I don&#8217;t know what it is about Manchester University that turns its staff and students into bloggers but there seem to be more and more of us around these days.
