{"id":671,"date":"2009-02-18T12:09:36","date_gmt":"2009-02-18T11:09:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.walkingrandomly.com\/?p=671"},"modified":"2009-04-09T10:21:39","modified_gmt":"2009-04-09T09:21:39","slug":"scilab-51-released","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/walkingrandomly.com\/?p=671","title":{"rendered":"Scilab 5.1 released"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new version of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scilab.org\">Scilab<\/a> was released a few days ago.\u00a0 Scilab is a free piece of software for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X that allows you to do the kind of numerical calculations that you might otherwise perform with something like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mathworks.com\/\">MATLAB<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gnu.org\/software\/octave\/\">Octave<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Version 5.1 is essentially a bug-fix release as far as I can tell &#8211; click <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scilab.org\/download\/index_download.php?page=RELEASE_NOTES_5.1\">here<\/a> for the <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">change-log<\/span> release notes.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d be interested in hearing any user-stories or thoughts concerning Scilab so if you have anything to add then please drop me a comment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update: <\/strong>Thanks to Sylvestre in the comments section I can tell you thatthe change log is really <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scilab.org\/download\/index_download.php?page=CHANGES_5.1\">here<\/a> and there is a lot more to this release than I originally thought.\u00a0 Sorry about that &#8211; looks like I haven&#8217;t fully shaken off the brain-addling effects of my cold.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new version of Scilab was released a few days ago.\u00a0 Scilab is a free piece of software for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X that allows you to do the kind of numerical calculations that you might otherwise perform with something like MATLAB or Octave.
