I was representing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.software.ac.uk\/\">Software Sustainability Institute<\/a>\u00a0and delivered the latest version of my talk <a href=\"http:\/\/mikecroucher.github.io\/MLPM_talk\/\">Is Your Research Software Correct?<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/mikecroucher\/MLPM_talk\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6262 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.walkingrandomly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Screen-Shot-2016-12-11-at-12.47.14-300x135.png\" alt=\"screen-shot-2016-12-11-at-12-47-14\" width=\"300\" height=\"135\" srcset=\"https:\/\/walkingrandomly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Screen-Shot-2016-12-11-at-12.47.14-300x135.png 300w, https:\/\/walkingrandomly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Screen-Shot-2016-12-11-at-12.47.14-768x346.png 768w, https:\/\/walkingrandomly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Screen-Shot-2016-12-11-at-12.47.14-1024x461.png 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was a great event which introduced me to some nice initiatives going on waaaay up north. Initiatives such as <a href=\"http:\/\/coderefinery.org\/\">Code Refinery<\/a>\u00a0who&#8217;s aims align well with those of the UK&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.software.ac.uk\/\">software sustainability Institute<\/a>. Code refinery was introduced by Radovan Bast &#8212; Slide deck at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cicero.xyz\/v2\/remark\/github\/coderefinery\/talk-intro\/niasc-2016\/talk.md\/#1\">http:\/\/cicero.xyz\/v2\/remark\/github\/coderefinery\/talk-intro\/niasc-2016\/talk.md\/#1<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/coderefinery.org\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6261 \" src=\"https:\/\/www.walkingrandomly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/coderefinery-1024x171.png\" alt=\"coderefinery\" width=\"793\" height=\"132\" srcset=\"https:\/\/walkingrandomly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/coderefinery-1024x171.png 1024w, https:\/\/walkingrandomly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/coderefinery-300x50.png 300w, https:\/\/walkingrandomly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/coderefinery-768x128.png 768w, https:\/\/walkingrandomly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/coderefinery.png 1748w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 793px) 100vw, 793px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Other talks included the introduction of a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nordicehealth.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/pcj-blast_Stockholm_2016.pdf\">scalable, parallel version<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/blast.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/Blast.cgi\">BLAST<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nordicehealth.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/BigDataGenomics.pdf\">Big Data Processing for Genomics<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nordicehealth.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Petri-Klemela-Workshop-on-Nordic-Big-Biomedical-Data-for-Action.pdf\">Delivering Bioinformatics Software as Virtual Machine images<\/a>.
