{"id":5151,"date":"2013-10-09T22:27:17","date_gmt":"2013-10-09T21:27:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.walkingrandomly.com\/?p=5151"},"modified":"2013-10-09T22:36:44","modified_gmt":"2013-10-09T21:36:44","slug":"my-samsung-galaxy-note-3-benchmark-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/walkingrandomly.com\/?p=5151","title":{"rendered":"My Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Benchmark Results"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I got a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techradar.com\/reviews\/phones\/mobile-phones\/samsung-galaxy-note-3-1178226\/review\">Samsung Galaxy Note 3<\/a> yesterday and, since I&#8217;m so interested in compute performance, I ran various benchmarks on it.\u00a0 Here are the results.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.antutu.ABenchMark&amp;hl=en_GB\">AnTuTu Benchmark <\/a>Overall score was 35,637.\u00a0 The screenshot below shows the comparison, given by the App, between my device and the Samsung Galaxy note 2 (my previous phone).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"AnTuTu on Note3\" src=\"https:\/\/www.walkingrandomly.com\/images\/android\/AnTuTu_note3.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenecomputing.com\/apps\/linpack\/\">Linpack Pro for Android<\/a> &#8211; This was the app I used when I compared <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walkingrandomly.com\/?p=2684\">mobile phones to 1980s supercomputers<\/a> back in 2010.\u00a0 My phone at the time, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walkingrandomly.com\/?p=1583\">HTC Hero<\/a>, managed just 2.3 Megaflops.\u00a0 The Samsung Note 3, on the other hand, managed as much as 1074 Mflops. That&#8217;s quite an increase over the space of just 3 years!\u00a0 I found that the results of this app are quite inconsistent with individual runs ranging from 666 to 1074 Mflops.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=org.codedivine.rgbench&amp;hl=en_GB\">RgbenchMM<\/a> &#8211; I&#8217;ve <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walkingrandomly.com\/?p=3079\">written about this benchmark<\/a>, developed by <a href=\"http:\/\/codedivine.org\/\">Rahul Garg<\/a>, before.\u00a0 It gives more consistent results than Linkpack Pro and my Note 3 managed as much as <strong>4471 Mflops<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Notes<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The device was plugged in to the mains at the time of performing the benchmarks.\u00a0 I rebooted the device after running each one.<\/li>\n<li>There are at least two types of Note 3 in circulation that I know of &#8211; a quad core and an octo-core.\u00a0 According to <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.cpuid.cpu_z&amp;hl=en_GB\">CPU-Z<\/a>, mine has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core with a top speed of 2.27 Ghz.<\/li>\n<li>Samsung have been accused of benchmark cheating by some.\u00a0 See, for example, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theregister.co.uk\/2013\/10\/03\/samsung_denies_cheating_on_benchmark_testing_despite_evidence\/\"> this post from The Register.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I got a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 yesterday and, since I&#8217;m so interested in compute performance, I ran various benchmarks on it.\u00a0 Here are the results.
