{"id":167,"date":"2008-10-03T14:24:58","date_gmt":"2008-10-03T13:24:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.walkingrandomly.com\/?p=167"},"modified":"2008-10-03T14:25:35","modified_gmt":"2008-10-03T13:25:35","slug":"worlds-largest-hello-world-program-written-in-field","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/walkingrandomly.com\/?p=167","title":{"rendered":"World&#8217;s largest &#8220;Hello World&#8221; program written in field."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While reading <a href=\"http:\/\/threesixty360.wordpress.com\/\">360&#8217;s recent post about crop circles<\/a>, I was reminded of something similar that caught my attention a while back &#8211; this:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/hello.w0r1d.net\/description.html\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/random\/hello_sema.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>What you are looking at is the phrase &#8220;Hello, world!&#8221; encoded in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Semacode\">Semacode<\/a> and mown into a wheat field.  Measuring 160m x 160m, it is possibly the largest &#8220;Hello, World!&#8221; program every written.  It was made back in 2007 by German programmer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/hopfengaertner\/\">bernhard hopfeng\u00e4rtner <\/a> who aimed (and succeeded) to get it included in aerial photography taken by <a href=\"http:\/\/gearthblog.com\/blog\/archives\/2007\/05\/programmer_writes_wo.html\">Google Earth<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Challenge<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now I have no idea if this is possible but that does not stop me asking the question.
