When <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walkingrandomly.com\/?p=7\">I first started this blog<\/a> I never even imagined that I would still be writing it two years on and yet here we are &#8211; still going strong.\u00a0 Technically speaking, WR&#8217;s actual birthday is on the 20th but I won&#8217;t have net access that day so I&#8217;m writing this celebration post a couple of days early.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s look at some statistics &#8211; most of which are useless but fun anyway<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Average number of daily visits: 1000 (ish)<\/li>\n<li>Number of RSS subscribers: 501 (up from 143 last year)<\/li>\n<li>Alexa Ranking: 1,016,417 (up about half a million from last year)<\/li>\n<li>Google Ranking: 5 (up 1 from last year)<\/li>\n<li>Number of posts: 296<\/li>\n<li>Number of comments: 737<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/random\/birthday_monkey.JPG\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I&#8217;ve never expected big numbers for this blog since it is a random collection of rather niche subjects (Maths software, mobile computing, games, programming etc) but some of the numbers above are far better than I could have ever imagined when I first started out.\u00a0 For me, the statistics are only a tiny part of the story though since I don&#8217;t write to get statistics.\u00a0 I write in the hope that someone, somewhere will find the content useful, interesting, fun and maybe all three.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">One of the reasons why writing a blog is so much fun is the interaction you get with your readers.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t make any money from Walking Randomly but I get paid handsomely in comments and many of them are worth their weight in gold.\u00a0 Not only have I learned so much from all of you but I have also made a lot of interesting new friends and contacts from all over the world.\u00a0 That&#8217;s something that&#8217;s very difficult to buy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">You people are awesome and without you this blog would be pointless so please keep reading, commenting, correcting me and teaching me and above all&#8230;THANK YOU!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Blimey!
