the closest thing to Mathcad on your Windows Mobile Phone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It won&#8217;t be long before I give up Windows Mobile for good in favour of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slashgear.com\/htc-hero-review-2149880\/\">HTC Hero<\/a> and the Android operating system but before I do I thought I would take one last look at what&#8217;s out there in terms of mathematical software for the Windows Mobile platform.\u00a0 I last <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walkingrandomly.com\/?p=14\">looked at this back in early 2008<\/a> but one or two things have changed since then.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/images\/pocket\/smath_wm.png\" alt=\"SMath running on Windows Mobile\" \/><\/p>\n<p>SMath studio is a very nice free maths application that is being developed by Andrey Ivashov for Windows and Linux (via Mono) desktops\u00a0 as well as Windows Mobile handhelds.\u00a0 It installed perfectly on my HTC TyTn II and offers an experience very similar to a simplified version of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ptc.com\/products\/mathcad\/\">PTC&#8217;s Mathcad<\/a> and can even handle Mathcad&#8217;s .xmcd file format in some cases.\u00a0 One cool feature to consider is that you can develop calculations on the desktop version (screen shot below) and then carry them around, edit and run them on your Windows Mobile phone (screenshot above).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/images\/pocket\/smath_linux.png\" alt=\"SMath running on Linux\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Andrey has recently<a href=\"http:\/\/en.smath.info\/forum\/default.aspx?g=posts&amp;t=178\"> released version 0.82 of the software<\/a> and there are some active forums over at his website in both <a href=\"http:\/\/en.smath.info\/forum\/\">English<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/ru.smath.info\/forum\/\">Russian<\/a> where you can discuss it.\u00a0 This software is well worth watching in my opinion.\u00a0 Although I won&#8217;t be able to follow the Windows Mobile versions after next week, I&#8217;ll definitely be keeping an eye on SMath for Linux and Windows and hope to bring a more detailed review to you at some point in the future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It won&#8217;t be long before I give up Windows Mobile for good in favour of the HTC Hero and the Android operating system but before I do I thought I would take one last look at what&#8217;s out there in terms of mathematical software for the Windows Mobile platform.\u00a0 I last looked at this back [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":false,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","default_image_id":0,"font":"","enabled":false},"version":2},"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false},"categories":[5,4,17,9],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1544","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-linux","category-math-software","category-mathcad","category-pocket-pc"],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"jetpack_shortlink":"https:\/\/wp.me\/p3swhs-oU","jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/walkingrandomly.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1544","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/walkingrandomly.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/walkingrandomly.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/walkingrandomly.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/walkingrandomly.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=1544"}],"version-history":[{"count":8,"href":"https:\/\/walkingrandomly.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1544\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1551,"href":"https:\/\/walkingrandomly.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1544\/revisions\/1551"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/walkingrandomly.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=1544"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/walkingrandomly.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=1544"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/walkingrandomly.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=1544"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
